Super-Food 5 Day Cleanse
Super-Food 5 Day Cleanse
What makes it super? Collards! The ANDI score (Aggregate Nutrient Density Index) rates food from 1 to 1000 based on nutrient content. ANDI scores are calculated by evaluating an extensive range of micronutrients, including vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidant capacities. Collards rate 1000! They give you all the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants that your heart desires! Tired of kale? Collards are a great alternative and provide all the same benefits of kale. On top of the all the health benefits, collards even slow down your aging process for your skin! Just read the article below:
“We all know that part of aging means loss of collagen in our skin. Losing collagen makes us look older because we lose volume and elasticity. Our skin is made up mainly of collagen, which is a protein. In fact, more than 80% of our skin is made of collagen. Facial fillers like Restylane and Juvederm are temporary ‘fixes’ to fill in areas of the face where collagen has been lost, resulting in a hollowed appearance and lines and wrinkles. You can prevent or delay the need for such fillers by ensuring that your diet is packed with collagen enhancing foods.
It’s simply unbelievable. In our quest for science to produce us a magical weapon against aging, we failed to realize that the things that can help us the most can be found in our own kitchen. The top two are kale and collard greens.
Dark-green leafy vegetables such as kale and collard greens are another way to add collagen producing foods to your diet. They are high in vitamin C and lutein, a very powerful antioxidant, kale and collard greens help the body make collagen and use protein effectively, which can result in increased elasticity and moisture control for the skin and connective tissue. Your body requires about 10 mg of dark-green leafy vegetables each day to increase collagen production, which equates to about 4 oz. of collard greens or 2 oz. of kale.” r Anti Aging SkinCare, Anti-aging Skin Care, Education
The cleanse is designed to rev up your metabolism and kick start your weight loss journey. This is also a great way to get rid of those stubborn 4-6lbs before the beach. Your brain and body runs off of complex carbohydrates and sugar which you will be lacking the first 3 days. So please be careful not to workout vigorously on those days and you may be a little irritable but hey it’s only 3 days. By days 4 and 5, I do encourage a mild 30 to 45 minute workout (i.e stationary bike ride, elliptical, walking). It would not be wise to go on a 3 mile run or so as your body is restoring it’s energy levels.
After the cleanse, eat clean and if you don’t what eating clean is just read it on my blog!
I strongly encourage doing the Super-food cleanse once a month.
Cleanse Time!
Buy 1 bag of collards, 1 bunch of carrots, 1 bunch of celery, 1 small onion, 1 16oz can of diced tomatoes. Chop and combine all ingredients in a pot and fill with water just over the vegetables. Season with cumin, salt, and pepper. Boil for 10 minutes, turn it off and place the lid on for five minutes. You may eat this soup as much as you want everyday!
Every morning mix a teaspoon of Braggs apple cider vinegar with 6oz of water and drink it as soon as you wake up.
Your food for the next 3 days are fruits and vegetables only. Eat raw as much as possible. No potatoes or bananas or nuts. Drink 80oz of water daily. And 30min to an hour from bed time steep one bag of green tea in 4 to 6oz of water and add a ½ teaspoon of Ginger. This is all you eat for the next 3 days and eat as much as you want!
Day 4 and 5 we introduce complex carbohydrates and protein. We continue days 1-3 regimen but now we add 2 or 3 boiled eggs and 1 cup of oatmeal for breakfast. Lunch is your super-food soup with a baked sweet potato. You may add ½ teaspoon of butter, a teaspoon of honey, and all the cinnamon you want for flavor to the sweet potato. Dinner is 8oz of baked chicken or fish with 1 cup of brown rice. Follow this exact plan for days 4 and 5 and you are done!
